GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

Welcome to Design and Technology at The Vale 

 

Here at The Vale we provide children with opportunities to design and make products within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs. This learning is often linked to other areas of the curriculum. 

 

In each unit of learning the children start by exploring and evaluating a range of existing products. Using the knowledge gained from evaluating the products they then design a product of their own based on a design criteria. 

 

The children learn to use a range of tools safely which are appropriate for making the product. They select from and use different materials and components including construction materials, textiles and ingredients. 

 

When the children have completed their product they then evaluate their ideas and products against the design criteria.
