Year 2 Butterfly Magic - Y2 have been doing some lovely learning in science as they explored the lifecycle of a butterfly. This week, their learning came to life as they released their butterflies — and it was a joy to see the children’s awe, wonder and excitement as they watched them take flight. Growing with the children in a gardening club is a great way to develop teamwork skills, promote hands-on learning and connect with nature. This week we had a very successful session preparing the beds in the school garden ready for planting next week. Lots of digging, raking and pulling of weeds went on. Well done to all our Y3 and 4 girls who took part in the football tournament today with other local Epsom and Ewell School teams. They have all made us so proud! Their resilience and determination was absolutely incredible. They literally and metaphorically picked each other up and supported each other as a team. Year 3 all had to play every single game as there were no subs! Linked to previous learning in Robin class on Transport and comparing old and new vehicles we were fortunate enough to welcome to the school seven classic cars. This included a 1984 Ford Capri, a Shelby Mustang and a Mercedes that was previously owned by Sir Paul McCartney. The children loved asking the owners questions about the vehicles, looking inside and in the engine. A highlight was listening to the Mustang being started up which was very loud!
