GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

Children from Year 5 and Year 6 proudly represented The Vale at the GLF Debating Competition held today at The Oval. They spoke with confidence, clarity and real passion — and absolutely loved the experience! We’re so proud of our brilliant Year 5 girls who have taken the lead in running our Book Club this term! Their enthusiasm, organisation and confidence have created a fantastic leadership opportunity — and the club is buzzing with children excited to join in. It’s wonderful to see such great engagement from pupils who are developing a real love of reading, enjoying books together, and sharing recommendations. We were so fortunate to welcome another Mystery reader into Robin class. The parent didn't just read them a story about feelings, she also taught them a song and presented them each with a 'Zone of regulation' keyring (Zones of Regulation is a cognitive-behavioural framework that we use at the Vale to help develop self-regulation. It organises emotions, energy levels, and states of alertness into four colour-coded zones to make complex feelings easier to talk about and manage). Linked to our Robin Class' wider curriculum topic on 'Transport' we were fortunate enough to have another mode of transport brought into school. A child in Reception, who takes part in motor cross events, was so excited to show his motorbike to everyone, the clothes that he has to wear to keep him safe and to ride it around the playground. Children had the opportunity to explore it and to ask questions. Y2 had an amazing trip to Farnborough Aviation Museum. They learnt all about Samuel Cody who designed a plane and made the first powered flight in the UK in 1908. Among other wonderful activities, the children experienced what it was like to be plunged into darkness during an air-raid in an underground shelter; saw Frank Whittle's jet engine; explored a Puma helicopter and competed for the accolade of Champion Aviator in a paper-plane challenge.
