House System
Shergar Njinsky Hyperion Diomed
Throughout the school children are put into one of four Houses: Shergar (yellow), Diomed (red), Nijinsky (green), Hyperion (blue). These are named after Epsom Derby race horse winners. Siblings will be in the same house. On sports day, in the summer term, children are invited to wear a t-shirt of their house colour.
At The Vale we are using ClassDojo to encourage important learning skills and behaviours. These work alongside the teaching of behaviours using Recognition Targets. They are collected electronically, and each pupil has their own Dojo. These are totalled each week by House Captains for the different Houses and there is a half termly reward of a mufti-day for the winning House. As we feel it is so important to work as a team and in partnership, parents can access a Dojo account at home and have access to how their child is progressing in these learning behaviours.
